About Celeste
Jazz vocalist from Cape Town, South Africa. She is young, vibrant and offers the best entertainment on any stage.
Her extensive repertoire ranges from jazz standards to contemporary, afro jazz, pop, RnB and even gospel, which is where this soulful sound originated from.
She has been seen performing at local music festivals in and around the Western Cape and has shared the stage with many well known musicians as well. She has also performed at many local restaurants and clubs.
Born on the "Cape Flats", Celeste grew up in a musical home where her family acknowledged and embraced her gift and it was from here that she developed her musical style to what it is today. This girl is a must hear and an excellent performer and will wow you to your very core with her enthralling jazz vocal.
She underwent vocal training from SA gospel greats such as Peter Burns, Keith & Alan Rose and then went on to further her development on the jazz scene. She has performed with the likes of Celeste Williams, the late Robbie Jansen, Mervyn Africa, Sebastian Petersen, Mark Williams and many many more Cape Town born and renowned artists.
Celeste Petersen provided vocals for the Sebastian Petersen Jazz Ensemble for a year and a half, headed up her own unit, ChaPter1 for a few months and then featured as lead vocal for a funky, new age pop unit called Q-Base Collective. Celeste currently performs as a solo artist and features with Cape Town band RFunk, embracing her talent to deliver music of an outstanding quality!
